Contact Improvisation Essentials and Explorations

A weekend workshop and a complimentary Sunday evening class series exploring Contact Improvisation. The weekend workshop is intended as a well-rounded introduction and training in the the basis of CI. The series assumes an introduction to the basis of CI and is intended to dive deeper and spring off of the fundamentals. We are not thinking of them as one graduating to the other, but just different foci, with the Essentials weekends being a different flow each time and worth repeating, and the Explorations series assuming the equivalent of at least one Essentials weekend.

Performance Project “(dis-)connected” for teens and young adults
Place & Dance: Tanzwerkstatt Kassel | 31. Oktober & 1. November 2025

​Over three days, Deborah Manavi and Mirjam Henß will work with you to develop a short dance piece entitled ‘Blitzlichter’ (Flashlights), which will be performed as part of the ‘Kassel Dance Festival for Young Audiences’ on 14 November at 6 p.m. in Dock 4.
This small project offers young people aged 15-19 (you should already have some previous experience) a great opportunity to get a taste of the work of the Tanzwerkstatt's young company and serves as a warm-up for the next production, which we are planning for 2026. The project will take around 16 hours.

Contemporary-Workshop for beginners
Place & Date: Tanzstudio Tendance Leipzig | 07. Oktober 2025 | 7.00-8.30 pm
​
During this one-and-a-half-hour class, fl oorwork elements, contemporary dance techniques and acrobatic elements will be taught and combined into an energetic dance fl ow. We will remain in constant internal and external motion throughout the class. The class is aimed at dancers with some previous experience in contemporary dance.
